BIOGRAPHY

Gabriele is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, theatremaker, documentary filmmaker, and producer based in London, working internationally. Their work has been staged as far as Japan, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Italy, as well as in prestigious British venues such as the Barbican, the Royal Court, and Bristol Old Vic. Gabriele heads Undone Theatre, a company using innovative dramaturgies to platform marginalised voices.

Recurrent themes in Gabriele's work are the city and psychogeography, archives and memory, queerness and migration. Gabriele's work is political, experimental, and interdisciplinary, oscillating between theatre, film, opera, digital, and site-specific audio installations. With each of their projects, Gabriele collaborates with relevant communities. For example, Gabriele edited the “1968 Today” zine, which documents a conversation on anti-apartheid activism between student activist across generations; another example is an exhibition on the use of yellow face in opera, which Gabriele co-curated.

Gabriele's practice is informed by their training in Social Anthropology, meaning they use qualitative research methods —such as verbatim interviews and co-creation with relevant communities—as part of their creative process. Gabriele trained on RADA and Birkbeck’s MA Text and Performance.

Gabriele is a Community Organiser with the Migrants Rights Network and an Architecture & Backstage Tour Guide at the Barbican. They were previously the producer at Jermyn Street Theatre. Gabriele has led workshops and guest lectured at leading universities such as the London School of Economics, King's College, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Birkbeck College, Lancaster Arts, Kingston University, and Rose Bruford College.
