BIOGRAPHY
Gabriele is an award-winning artist and producer based in London, working internationally. Their work is political, experimental, and interdisciplinary, oscillating between theatre, film, audio, opera, as well as digital and site-specific installations. Gabriele's work has been staged as far as Japan, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Italy, as well as in prestigious British venues such as the Barbican, the Royal Court, and Bristol Old Vic.
Originally from Italy, Gabriele moved to Scotland at 19 to train in Social Anthropology, a discipline which left a profound mark on their artistic practice. As a result, their creative work often spotlights true stories through verbatim interviews, archival material, and unexpected collaborations. It's playfully meta, documentary work which foregrounds the ethics of its own making, constantly questioning the politics of storytelling.
Gabriele moved to London in 2020 to train on RADA and Birkbeck’s MA Text and Performance. Here, they founded Undone Theatre, a company making socially engaged and genre-defying work, with a specific focus on queer and migrant narratives. Credits include the critically acclaimed Lessons on Revolution, The Butterfly Project, and LONDON/LONDRA. Undone Theatre's experimental shows blur the lines between performance and reality, featuring audience interaction, new technologies, and occasionally taking place outside of traditional theatre spaces. Think Nathan Fielder meets José Esteban Muñoz.
Gabriele is an advocate for better representation of migrant artist in the British art landscape, and they work as a Community Organiser with the Migrants Rights Network. They are also an Architecture & Backstage Tour Guide at the Barbican. They were previously the producer at Jermyn Street Theatre. Gabriele has led workshops and guest lectured at leading universities such as the London School of Economics, King's College, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Birkbeck College, Lancaster Arts, Kingston University, and Rose Bruford College.
